BULLET PRESS RELEASES
10/16/98 - San Clemente, CA FORMULA MAZDA DRIVER, TAYLOR FLETCHER, SETS NEW TRACK RECORD AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY.

Bullet Racing Team announced today that team driver, Taylor Fletcher, broke the Formula Mazda track record during a race Saturday, October 10, 1998, at the 1.5 mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With average speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour and a lap time of 37.4 seconds, Fletcher bested the previous record set in 1997 by nearly a full second.

The race itself was held Saturday afternoon as a support race for the Sunday Indy car race. Fletcher was gridded in the 27th position of a 35-car field due to an unsuccessful qualifying attempt Saturday morning. The San Clemente driver did, however, work his way forward through the field and half way through the race had moved forward to be running in the 6th position. At that time approximately 65 miles into a 75 miles race, Fletcher impacted the wall in Turn 4 at speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour. After being removed from the car unscathed, driver Taylor Fletcher was quoted as saying, "We're not really sure what happened exactly. We were running in a pack of six to eight cars just inches away from each other, and all of a sudden the aerodynamic down force was lifted from the car, and it instantly went sideways, crashing into the Turn 4 wall and sending the car reeling towards the infield. We were able to maintain control and bring the car into the pits. Our day was done however as there was sufficient damage to the chassis to keep us from continuing in the race. We look forward to coming back next year and turning our record-breaking lap times into a win for the team." The Formula Mazda race will be replayed on ESPN2 on Monday, November 2, 1998, at 3:30 PM Pacific Standard Time and again on Friday, November 6, 1998, at 9:00 AM.

Fletcher is currently in first place in the National Auto Sport Association series as quoted in Speed News as well as running in sixth place in the national divisional standings of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Bullet Racing Team driver Taylor Fletcher runs car #27 in the Formula Pro Mazda Series which runs from February through November and includes a 15-race schedule in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada. The team is made up of an all-volunteer crew of dedicated Southern California racing enthusiasts that bring a significant amount of skill and technical expertise to the team. Taylor Fletcher is the team owner and driver. A local entrepreneur, he serves as CEO of Global Telemanagement, Inc., a San Juan Capistrano, California, software company.
